Customs Broker- Entry Level

Brampton, ON

We are looking for a custom broker for our company in Mississauga.  Please see the below for more info on the role:

Duties

• Data Entry (accurate data entry for all documents).
• Answer customer queries about the status of shipments.
• Clear/Walk entries through Customs.
• When necessary, go to Canada Customs Office and obtain a release of shipment.
• Surrender Bills of Lading: send original bills of lading to steamship lines to obtain a release of freight.
• Rating and clearing of HVS and LVS shipments.
• Sub Agency entries (Billing, faxing, deliveries, payables, pick-up of advice notes, customs clearances).
• Billing.
• Maintain and update client profile with proper H.S codes, Tariff Treatments, change of address, vendor information.
• Communicate with agents on customs issues to resolve problems with shipments.
• Some travel may be required. Candidate may have to periodically travel to and from the airport.

Qualification

• Diploma in International Business or equivalent.
• Diploma in International Transportation and Customs from Seneca is considered an asset.
• Future aspirations to complete Certified Customs Specialist would be an asset (or being currently enrolled in the training portion of the Certification).
• Computer skills: Excel/Word/Fenix.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong organization skills.
• Mathematical/ Financial Skills: Ability to work with numbers, spreadsheets, and financial documents a definite asset.
• Attention to Detail and Accuracy a must: Strong attention to detail required for documentation and day to day tasks.
